Lara and I met up for her Fort Worth Botanical Gardens senior session this summer. It was a week of 60% chances of rain and humidity through the roof.  The Botanical Gardens is a little treasure here in Fort Worth. What I love most about doing a Fort Worth Botanical Garden senior session in the middle of the summer is that I can always count on COLOR, and lots of it. Everything else in Texas may be dead and brown but not there. They know what they are doing to keep the gardens lush, blooming, and green all year long.

Lara had her hair and makeup done which in the triple digit Texas heat, you will never regret. She looked absolutely flawless and you would never know by looking at these images that Lara and I were a hot sweaty mess (or maybe that was just me).

Lara is a 2017 Trinity Valley School senior. She’s extremely smart, wonderfully kind and sweet and my session with her just so wonderful. Lara has an incredible easy  and playful manner in front of my camera. There was very little direction from me, she’s just a great model. Those are the funnest sessions for me when my clients feel comfortable at at ease.

I know Lara is looking at some pretty amazing colleges to attend next year and I can’t wait to hear who is lucky enough to get her.

One of my favorite parts of my job is establishing relationships with families and continuing to tell their life story. I captured Robert’s older sister’s senior images over a year ago. It’s hard for me to believe that now Robert is a senior already and it’s his turn.We went back to the same location that we did Mary’s because it didn’t disappoint the first time around. Robert’s Fort Worth Botanical Gardens senior session was also another session to be remembered and treasured with this family. I love any excuse to see this family. When mom and I talked about doing Robert’s session, I was so thrilled to hear that it would be when Mary, his sister, was home from college and I’d be able to see her again.

Robert is a 2017 senior at Aledo High School and is involved in cross country, track, debate, Teen Court, and is the National Honor Society Vice President. Robert loves Chemistry and is most looking forward to graduating! He’s very passionate about computer programming and his friends would describe him as fun, motivated and like to debate.

His favorite high school memory was going to regionals in debate and one of his dreams after high school would be to become a member of the House of Representatives. Robert is so hard working and motivated, that I could completely see this being a possibility.

Let me say that I will NEVER forget Robert’s senior session. I’ll be honest that most senior guys are less than excited about doing senior photos and most of the time see it out of obligation for moms and for yearbook photos, but Robert never led me to believe that at all about him. He was full of photography ideas, energetic and was incredibly natural in front of the camera. Thank you Robert for making my job so so easy! I loved my time together with your family for your session!

I’ve been looking forward to do Ryleigh’s home senior session since last year when I did her older brother’s session. I immediately fell in love with her family and their beautiful land. Ryleigh’s family lives on a beautiful piece of land with acres of wild grasses, dirt roads, old fences. In other words, my dream location.

Ryleigh is as adorable as they come. She’s a volleyball player and a 2017 senior at Country Day School in Fort Worth. She’s bubbly, sweet, happy and just a natural beauty!

I love that we did her senior photos at her home, in the place that’s helped mold and make her who she is today. I feel like when we do sessions at a location that are meaningful to seniors/families, that it plays a big part in their experience. Twenty years from now Ryleigh and her mom will remember that those were taken at a very sacred place for them. I was very spoiled at her session and her mom and one of her friends and I just drove around to different spots on their land. We laughed and had so much fun. I always love it when my job doesn’t even feel like a job, it just feels like I’m hanging with friends.

I adore this family and I’m just sad that Ryleigh is the baby of the family and there’s no more seniors to photograph because I love any excuse to see them.

Sweet baby Hudson. It seems like yesterday I was just taking his newborn photos. And here we are already doing Hudson’s cake smash session. Time is such a thief and my job as a photographer seems to only magnify this.

Hudson’s mama is one of my best friends. She and I were roommates after college and were in each other’s weddings. She is insanely talented. Last year she quit her full time corporate job and opened a little Etsy shop making cards, invitations, banners, etc. It started out small and now people are catching on to how cute and adorable her stuff is.

She’s one of those people that you walk in to her house feeling inspired to just go home and redecorate your entire house. She just has that creative gene and comes up with super cute stuff. So I knew when we started planning for Hudson’s cake smash session, this wasn’t going to be any ordinary session. I knew Kelly would do it up big and cute. And once again, she did not disappoint.

Hudson’s first birthday theme was from the book Where the Wild Things Are. Oh my goodness what an adorable theme. She made all of this….the crown, the chalkboard art, the banner! We did some outdoor photos and then headed to the studio because most cake smashes end with a bath!  😉 All I know about Hudson is that that sweet baby boy loves food, like you better keep it coming while he’s eating or you may get the stink eye from him. We just knew he would tear up his cake but believe it or not, he was not a fan. It’s rare that I do find a one year old that is though.

Love this sweet baby and family to pieces.
