Violet’s very violet newborn session

September 27, 2018 Families, Newborn

All my photographer dreams came true when I had the honor of capturing this newborn session. I mean her name is VIOLET for goodness sakes!!! That is a self-proclaimed color lover’s DREAM! Color just makes me so happy and usually pink is a very requested color for girls, so I knew that incorporating color into Violet’s very violet newborn session would get my creative juices going.

I have known Violet’s daddy since we were little. We grew up in the same church but I was actually closer in age to his older siblings. The whole family is just beautiful and Violet is no different. They wanted the color violet (obviously) and a quilt that Violet’s grandmother made for her to be in her session. Other than that, they just wanted me to do my thing (my very favorite thing to hear). I love incorporating quilts and blankets that are meaningful and when they brought this gorgeous quilt in, I just swooned because I knew it would be a perfect fit for Violet’s very violet newborn session!

Before my newborn sessions, I send out a questionnaire that helps me prepare for my session. I want to make sure that I have an idea of what my family’s vision is for their session. I want to know if they love the color violet or despise a certain color. Some of my families love color and others hate it and want neutrals, and that’s gorgeous, too! This questionnaire ensures that we’re all on the same page and I can make this session all that my clients envision.

I highly recommend doing parent poses and photos. Yes, I know that you’re not exactly feeling your best 10 days after giving birth, but they are this tiny for such a small amount of time and nothing shows that more than seeing the perspective of them in your arms. Plus with this model family, how could we go wrong?

I really loved how Violet’s gallery turned out!
