Autumn in New York. It’s pretty much my very favorite. I met one of my dearest friends in 5th grade church camp over 25 years ago. Since then we were in youth group, played handbell choir together (yes there is such a thing), went to college together, worked together at Pier 1’s corporate office after college and were in each other’s weddings. So we literally have grown up together.
She married a great guy and moved to New York many years ago for his school and have now settled in Manhattan half a block from Central Park (is this real life?). A couple of years ago, Beth had a wild idea to round up some families to do mini sessions in Central Park. Ummm, ok twist my arm. So I headed up there, fell in love with NYC, and now I look for every excuse to go up there to see her and have a beautiful backdrop for images.
I can’t even believe how vibrant the color is in Central Park in the fall. It’s a little bit of sensory overload and I scream tourist because I can’t put my camera down! Beth and her family get super bonus points for this session because the morning of this shoot the entire family just got back from flying a very early flight from Arkansas to see family after a very busy weekend. It was full of chaos, no sleep and Beth was not so sure how this Central Park session was going to go down. I blow dry and put bows in hair, helped little man get dressed and looking dapper and even kidnapped the kids without mom to the park!
Then, once we got to the park it all fell together perfectly. We played, just had fun, and I captured these authentic moments. I’m so glad we went through with the session because I know that these images full of love and joy will forever be cherished!
Beth and Josh, I’m so incredibly grateful for your friendship. Some of my very favorite memories of growing up involve you, Beth. I hope that these memories we created in the park are a small token of my appreciation and will be great memories for your kids.
