I feel very fortunate to live in Fort Worth and I’m proud to say I’m a DFW senior photographer. We have so many ridiculously cool places/backdrops to photograph all within a 30 minute radius of my home. Sometimes I think I take it for granted and then I have a photographer friend that lives across the country remind me that Texas has the coolest places to shoot. I will say, sometimes, I feel like I get in a rut when I shoot at all my same places over and over again. I love the familiarity, but I also love the challenge of something new.
Aleena is a 2016 senior attending The Hockaday School in Dallas. She really wanted to do something in Dallas and I thought it was a great idea and would go perfectly with her personality. We started brainstorming and came up with doing her shoot in Deep Ellum in Dallas. Now I feel like “country coming to town” every time I venture to Dallas and I’m so thankful for the invention of GPS because I get lost every time I go there.
When I try new locations, there are definitely nerves that go with it. To say we were winging it in this session, is an understatement. Aleena and I would walk around and just stop where we thought something looked really cool. I think we stopped about every block because in Deep Ellum the coolest graffiti art is on practically every corner.
The ongoing joke I had with Aleena during her shoot was that I thought she came down to Deep Ellum with pantone swatches because her outfits coordinated so well. The funny thing is that it is all completely coincidence! Aleena is an avid reader and brought along her favorite book to read in Klyde Warren Park and I absolutely love that it represents who she is. We laughed about how even her book coordinated with the chairs! Aleena was an absolute natural in front of the camera. Her vision, the outfits, and her beautiful smile helped this Fort Worth girl get out of a location rut. This earns the award for the most colorful images in a single location!
Aleena, you are absolutely a beautiful girl both inside and out and I can’t wait to see what your bright future holds!
